TEAK

Teak (Tectona grandis) is well known for its high strength and durability. It exhibits great stability in changing environments, does not crack or rot, and resists the action of fungi, xylophages and even some acids. it has a density between 650 and 750 kg/m³, with an average of 690 kg/m³ at 12% humidity. It is considered a heavy and medium hard wood. It has medium flexural strength, low stiffness and impact resistance, high compressive strength, and a moderate degree of steam bending.

These characteristics are what make it possible for teak wood to be considered one of the most valuable in the world and thus enjoy multiple applications:

• Sheets for decorative coatings • Furniture and joinery • Interior carpentry: floors, friezes, stairs • Exterior carpentry: cladding, windows • Naval construction: light vessels • Bridges: elements in contact with the ground or water • Turnery: curved pieces • Acid resistant containers

Environmentally concerned customers are happy to know that teak is a sustainable material and is not listed on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Endangered Species, a recognized international organization whose work involves the sustainable use of natural resources and nature conservation
